Aiea Community Association January 28, 2008 Meeting Aiea Library
I. Call to Order: 7:07 p. m.
II. Introductions: Richard Ito, Arlene Ching, Jarrett Oshiro, Debbie Mizokawa, Karen Higa, Larry Higa, Claire Tamamoto
III. Board Minutes Approval: There was no board minutes recorded for December 2007 meeting.
IV. Treasurer’s Report: · No treasurer’s report as Denise Haverty is on vacation · Donation from Castle & Cooke of $200.00 via Rodney Funakoshi, employee of Castle & Cooke. Each employee can designate a donation to be made each year. · Aiea High School Band Boosters gave $50 to ACA
V. Old BusinessA. Aiea Intergenerational Center – Close out of Center. Motion to close bank account. · Center closed on 12/31/07 but account will not be closed as bills still need to be paid and not until financial report is completed. · Computer monitors stored at Denise’s house. Labor Ready took refrigerator. Other ACA owned miscellaneous items discarded. · Oceanic called looking for a router that was misplaced during the move out. · Property management may ask for last month’s rent. Claire to have Scott Kamiya check. B. Pearl Harbor Historic Trail – Rep. Lynn Finnegan’s office. Steven Antonio contact person · Need to find report. Want to identify State and Federal land. Looking for alternative route to bypass Admiral’s house C. Aiea Neighborhood Board · Had debate about continuance stewardship of Aiea gateway area. Matter tabled for next meeting. D. Empower Oahu 1. Zero Waste Management · Council Chair of Seattle, Richard Conlin, spoke saying 60% of waste to be recycled (initiative set) 2. Micro Enterprise Training Sessions · For anyone interested in starting a small business. Held at Waipahu Festival Marketplace
E. Website up and running – Richard Ito · Problem is getting input · New host (Host Monster) resulted in cost dropping from approximately $19 to $5 per month · For now, send information to Richard. ACA meetings to be held in library until further notice F. Aiea Library Site · Rep. Blake Oshiro to present a bill for funding of new library (planning, design, etc.)
VI. New BusinessA. Goals for 2008: Projects (topic pushed to February meeting) · Suggestions included, crime, zoning, seniors, Mill site development, library B. Aiea Gateway Service Project · Aiea High School Band looking at doing a service project on February 23rd (tentative). Project to include picking up of trash and landscaping C. Castle and Cooke Aiea Town Center · To have meetings with the City to find out details about property. D. Calendar of Events 2008 (topic pushed to February meeting) · Christmas parade tentatively set for December 13th (second Saturday) E. 2008 ACA Directors (topic pushed to February meeting)
