Aiea Community Association October 30, 2000 Alvah Scott Elem.

Present: Bonnie Arakawa, David Arakawa, Robyn Blanpied, Denise Haverty,Wade Kagawa, Scott

Kamiya, Richard Ito, Kimberly Mills, Jim Naylon, Blake Oshiro, Gary Okino, Lawson Teshima, Claire Tamamoto, Sandra Thompson

  1. Secretary’s Minutes were reveiwed and accepted.
  2. Treasurer Report- Denise Havertyreported as of Oct. 16, 2000, there is 1750.80 in the ACA account.
  3. Communication
  4. Aiea NB-Sandie Thompson reported CIP projects were approved by the Aiea Neighborhood Board, PACCOm Headquarters Project at the top of Halawa Hgts. was highlighted and an unanimous motion to inform DTS that the Board opposes the transit site at Kamehameha Drive Inn.

    Webpage-Richard Ito reported that correspondence to ACA would take up a lot of space on the Webpage and that we should opt for a list of correspondences and a contact person.

  5. Projects
  6. Aiea Town Center- HARC and Crazy Shirts have been cited for not having a permit to build a fence within the 7’setback. Librarian, Virginia Lowell, has not returned messages concerning the relocation of Aiea Library to the former Mill site.

    Pearl Harbor Historic Trail- Workshop will be announced soon. Concern about the Draft Plan not being available to Community Advisory Committee (CAC) members were brought up.

    Aiea Intermediate School (AIS) Intergenerational Center grant has been obtained. Some technical problems with the electricity hook up and public school property rights were discussed. Discipline has increased.

  7. Empower Oahu – Although no funding is yet attached to Round 3 of the Empowerment Initiative, four groups to focus on are Seniors, Makalapa/ Stadium Residents, Educators, and Businesses. There is an island wide meeting on Nov. 13 to establish procedures to prioritize projects.
  8. Make A Difference Day-Members Wade Kagawa, Jane Sugimura, Denise Haverty, Robyn Blanpied, Warren Tamamoto, and Kimberly Mills cleared manmade debris from Aiea Stream. Although the stream is a state entitiy, there is no mechanism for it’s upkeep. The C&C Pearl City yard clean the stream once a year.
