April 24, 2000 AIEA COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION MEETING ALVAH SCOTT ELEM. 7:15PM

 

SECRETARY MINUTES b

 

EMPOWER OAHU FUND- use for community development.  Most likely to use funds

for bulk mail.  Other options include banner creation, Fall newsletter

supplies, and advertisement in Leeward Current.

o7 Articles are needed on projects and status.

AIEA NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD MEETING

Former Aiea NB Representative, Richard Rowland, verbally attacked three

members of the ACA.  See Aiea NB minutes on the City and County web page for

highlights.

 

PROJECTS

o7 FUNDING-The community needs to look into matching funds and leverage CBDG

money for the future.  The C&C and State may not apply for funding due to

lack of personnel.

o7 LIBRARY-Need to get State Librarian, Virginia Lowb

of the library to the mill site.

o7 Pearl Harbor Historic Trail- Need to get more community input for vision

of PHHT. Many historical areas have been defined.  Other uses need to be

defined more.  Harbor Center is b

o7 Livable Communities funding through OMPO has NOT yet been signed off on.

A traffic study before school is over needs to be done in the Pearlridge

area.

o7 Gateway project- we have a copy of the Draft Final Report?

o7 The intergenerational project is??  Moving in the direction of technology.

Funding is for job skill or job generation.

 

EMPOWER OAHU- Need to highlight NGO more.  Form Community Initiation Group,

increase

participation, put in newsletter.

 

EARTH DAY-Highlights of shrub planting with Nat from the Nature Conservancy

and the Jr. YBA

discussed.  Adopt a park forms are available to adopt Rainbow Bay.

 

AIEA MEDICAL BLDG. VARIENCE- DPP currently looking at options such as after

life of the unit tear

down.  If DPP grants variance, mitigation measures such as bus stop

beautification and

landscaping should be considered to lessen visual impact.

 

HARBOR CENTER-want to integrate with PHHT.  Need to work with landowners to

balance benefits for

both them and the community.  PHHT will generate customer traffic to the

area.  There is no

opposition to IMX use.  We need to go on record to support landowners,

businesses, economic

development and promote PHHT.
