263-1264 MINUTES Minutes of June 07,99 were reviewed.
Under Aiea Medical Building, b error, application for variance submitted.
Minutes accepted. AIEA MEDICAL BUILDING Structure fronting Aiea Medical Building on Aiea
Hgts, Drive is an air conditioning unit for the building. It is b b that shifts electricity usage from day into night
that alleviates HECO peak-time usage, which decrease energy generation
and cost and aids in pollution abatement. At 7am, the unit shuts off; a computer turns on small pumps with the old chiller interface to cool the
building. Aiea Med. gets a tax credit for the energy conservation equipment and
there is a saving of 40%-50% on the electric bill. The area where tanks are currently located was
described as b to put the ice storageb it is only two-three feet. The City & County
planning and permitting approved a permit.
The contractors b until a complaint was filed.b area.b the city. The
Medical Buildings former 20-year-old air conditioning unit has already been removed from underneath the front
of the building. Aiea Med. Building is a b the situation. Discussion followed and questions were asked: (D.A.)
Could tanks be put on top of each other?
No, because of the fire escape.
(B.A.) Why not give up parking? Too
busy. Parking space being taken is
not an option. (C.T.) Is there enough space, ratio to tenant (parking)?
Donb there a hazard potential? No, oxygen deteriorates mixture.
(J.S.) How about the roof?
Structurally the unit is too heavy.
(K.M.) Can the tanks be separated? No,
one tank may be frozen and the other ones not. (G.O) Why are boxes aligned the way it is instead of the drawn
plan? Electric conduit culvert required tanks to be turned the way it is.
It was stated that, b residents have a problem with it.b pollution. Starling
stated that greenery, lattice, trellis, hedging and to paint the units green is possible. Due to issue consistency, there is a concern about
the precedent of allowing the 2-3 ft. setback in relation to the mill site
road. A ten b setback was to be created at the site, but only a
seven-ft. setback was allowed even with community opposition. A presentation to Aiea Neighborhood Board will take
place also. Field trip to the Aiea Medical Building will take place on July
8, 1999, 9:00 am. ACAb AIEA SUGAR MILL SITE Mahealani Richardson from KGMB would like to meet
with ACA at the HARC building on July 8, 1999 at 10:00am.
Try and get community members and Aiea youths that are at PCC Youth Center there. The Aiea Neighborhood Board (ANB) is aware of ACAb library at the mill site. Norman Mizuguchi supports ACAb look at the larger site parcel 10, for the library
rather then the proposed current location of parcel 25.
Mark Takai or Judy Gold to help ACA draft a letter to the Governor. Vision boards need to bring mill site to the table at meetings. Gary to put together justification sheet for b with Councilperson Hanneman and M. Richadson.
Bonnie to bring rendering boards. At the Aiea Neighborhood Board meeting of June 14,
1999, Joel Criz, representing Crazy Shirts, Inc. was upset with ACAb concerning the mill site. Bonnie informed him that the flyer was informational for community members who would be
most affected by the development at the site. David requested that Joel Criz confirm in writing to the ANB not to allow industrial intensive use at
the site. Criz agreed. SEE AIEA NEIGHBORHOOD BOARD NO.20 REGULAR MEETING
MINUTES JUNE 14, 1999. ABC GRANT APPLICATION The ABC grant opened up grant funds to Empowerment
groups. Our proposal was to build up our community base with the eventual
outcome being a computer learning center/ youth center.
There will be a meeting on July 19,1999, at 5pm With Maia Rogers from the HMSA Foundation and
Terry George from the Consuelo Alger Foundation.
Bob Agres may help us prep and hopefully Empower Oahu could provide technical support.
David suggested that if we get the grant, perhaps we could inform and get community
support through schools with flyers and PTA announcements going to homes
with school aged children. MISC. Jane announced that articles for the ANB newsletter
would be due on July 11, 1999. A
disk and hard copy is requested for articles. Meeting was adjourned at 9:45pm. o AIEA MEDICAL BUILDING FIELD TRIP |
