Income generated was $20.00 in membership fees and $2.14 in interest. OMPO- The draft MIS EIS for the Primary Corridor Transportation Plan for 2025 is out and public comment is encouraged. Webpage- Minutes and agenda need to be posted earlier. A description of ACA both in a long and short version along with a list of officers, contacts and possibly members (upon clearance) will also be available. The site will also include project descriptions, past correspondence and photos. A counter will also be monitoring hits. Empower Oahu- Claire recapped the HUD Best of Practice Symposium at Washington DC that she attended. Claire attended functions pertaining to youths such as a Youth Building Program whose goal is to get persons age 14-22 back in school and the mainstream. HCAP in Oahu will start a similar program here with 20 persons, which is considered a work force investment. The third round of EO funding is starting up. HUD debriefed EO of the C&C of Honolulu’s former application’s shortcomings. Intergenerational Center- The open house took place on August 16, 2000 at Aiea Intermediate with about 50 persons attending. The grant for $100,000 will be used for sewing, computer and greenhouse/hydroponics classes. Roslyn Blanco is the coordinator with Diane Bounds working half time. Roz Blanco and Ella Williams, will be attending Building Communities classes. Aiea Intermediate (AIS)- Problems of the first day of school and registration was discussed. ACA’s possible involvement was discussed. Because AIS is a School Community Based Management (SCBM) School, as a community entity, ACA should get involved. But how is the problem because we are trying to build relationships with our community’s schools so we cannot be stepping on toes but this may be our opportunity to start building. A letter to LeMehieu concerning the chaos should be drafted. Rep. K.Mark Takai is aware of the situation. Pa’ai’au Fishpond- No update. Work to establish DLNR, as the umbrella organization needs to be done. Announcements- September 14, 2000 is the Candidates Forum at 7pm at Scott Elem. Refreshments will be served. Please come early to help set up. Make a Difference Day in October needs a volunteer coordinator. Services to the disadvantaged or something different should be done. There will be transportation meetings concerning the draft MIS EIS. Dates to be announced. New Business-No new business was brought up. Community Concerns-Seniors have spoken to ACA members concerning the dangerous intersection near Aiea High at Ulune and Aiea Hgts. Drive. This concern could possibly be a vision project that could encompass a traffic safety project from Kaimakani St to Aiea Heights/Ulune. Meeting ended at 9pm. |
